Expormim-MUT Design: the collaboration continues

The multidisciplinary studio based in Valencia has created the Armadillo seat, protagonist of Das Haus at imm cologne and the Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair 2020

After the Nautica Swing chair and the Twins armchairs, the studio MUT Design has designed Armadillo, the new seat for 2020 produced by Expormim. Already seen at Das Haus, the main installation of imm cologne that recreates an ideal living space, assigned each year to a different international interior design firm, the piece will also be a protagonist at Stockholm Furniture & Light 2020.

The product design, graphic design and art direction studio was founded in 2010 by Alberto Sánchez and Eduardo Villalón in Valencia. The designers define Armadillo as “a reinterpretation of classic rattan furniture: the Papasan. “The seat takes its inspiration in terms of its name and its silhouette from the animal found in eastern South America, conveying a sense of gentle shyness that becomes vivid personality thanks to the postmodern features typical of MUT Design, one of the most representative teams of the “New Wave” of Spanish design.

The chair, produced by hand in Mogente (Valencia), has a structure in natural rattan finished in three phases: dyeing, background and surface. The cushions come in natural leather or eco-leather. Simplicity and tradition are the key factors of Armadillo, in an appealing tribute to inner calm.
