Italian Luxury Home Brands Forge New Paths in Los Angeles

A cluster of new showroom openings respond to the growing demand for both timeless and cutting-edge design

With neighbors that include Visionnaire and the Flexform-focused 33Sixty, Molteni&C and Flou in recent months opened public-facing presences in the evolving West Hollywood Design District. These new tenants further establish the intersection of Beverly and Robertson Boulevards as a destination for top-tier Italian interior design legacy brands. While Armani/Casa decamped from this immediate area, the company has newly expanded in order to service the Southern California market.

Belgian architect Vincent Van Duysen, who serves as the Creative Director of the Molteni Group, designed the cooly dramatic space on Robertson for Molteni&C | Dada that was developed in partnership with the ddc Group. The two-story flagship occupies over 700 square meters, and showcases collections by designers in the Molteni&C|Dada catalogue and Heritage Collection, such as Van Duysen, Gio Ponti, Patricia Urquiola, Jean Nouvel and Foster+Partners. Also installed on-site are Molteni wardrobe systems, along with a Highline Frame Door Dada kitchen suite, a VVD kitchen, and a Slide Armani Dada kitchen located upstairs in the private lounge. The immersive concept features a charming private courtyard, too.

West Coast debut for Flou

FLou LA
FLou LA

Flou opened its Beverly Boulevard showroom this past October with a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by West Hollywood mayor John D’Amico and Flou President Massimiliano Messina to inaugurate the business’s California chapter. (Posner Fine Arts and Luxe Interiors + Design media group also provided support for the event.) Now clients can experience the brand’s newest collection that debuted at Salone del Mobile in 2019 alongside classic designs, including the upholstered Nathalie bed designed in 1978 by Vico Magistretti, and Flou closet and storage systems. The immersive vignettes are artfully set up within the 250 square-meter space.

At the nearby Pacific Design Center on Melrose, Armani/Casa has made a move to double its physical size after maintaining its previous location near the corner of Beverly and Robertson. The new expansive 460 square-meter boutique at the influential PDC complex designed originally by the late César Pelli reflects the brand’s signature aesthetic. Pale oak surfaces and the Armani/Casa lamp motif appear throughout; platinum mesh screens and other platinum-toned details provide a nod to the iconic brand’s primary headquarters in Milan on Corso Venezia. Here, the full range of Armani/Casa furnishings, textiles and accessories are on offer.
