Visionnaire and Marc Ange: ode to beauty

Il Pavone is the capsule collection presented in the exhibition “The Garden of Beauty” during Design Miami/ and Art Basel. A reflection on beauty and luxury, by Visionnaire and Marc Ange

The vibrant atmosphere of Design Miami/ and Art Basel Miami Beach means anything goes, and anything can be transformed. Material, tangible reality opens up to contaminations with the fantastic and the sublime, and the borderlines between design and art are suddenly erased. An armchair becomes an animal sculpture, a peacock becomes an “allegory of luxury.” Marc Ange uses these words to narrate the concept behind the creation of the capsule collection Il Pavone, designed for Visionnaire for the occasion of the dual event that enlivens Miami this week.

The Visionnaire showroom in the Wynwood district hosts the preview of the collection, presented in a special installation titled “The Garden of Beauty,” also by the artist-designer based in Los Angeles, open to the public from 2 to 8 December.

Marc Ange has gotten inspiration from recent voyages to India and countless encounters with peacocks, studying their behavior and characteristics. “The peacock spends his time and energy to display his beauty,” the artist explains, positing a clear reference to the Visionnaire universe. The radiant beauty of the peacock has been embodied by a throne and five armchairs, and translated into the collection through the brand’s exclusive materials.

Imposing and dramatic, the one-off throne has been created in the image of the animal with its fascinating plumage: made in camel leather with a vintage look, in 1970s style, Il Pavone Trono is covered in bright green and blue fabric, and finished with bronze-tone brass. The armchairs reprise the characteristics and silhouette of the throne, but in a smaller, more contemporary version.

“Culture, Nature, Design, Object, Experience, Contamination, Uniqueness, Ingenuity, Luxury, Vision: these are the programmatic terms that represent our entrepreneurial spirit – says the art director Eleonore Cavalli. – Il Pavone, and its meticulously thought-out intricacies and innuendos, will encapsulate these principles, and reveal their true significance through a narrative and sensory experience.” The project is part of the program of celebrations for the 15th anniversary of the brand (and at the same time the 60th of the mother company IPE), after the publication of the art book Decalogo, the Anniversary collection and its capsule collection of accessories.
