Countdown for Design Miami/

How can we fail to lose our bearings amidst dozens and dozens of events and proposals in Miami, from 3 to 8 December? Here are the must-see selections for 2019 during Design Miami/

We’re back in Miami for the event that more than any other puts the accent on collectible design. The new iteration – number 15 – of Design Miami/ puts the international spotlight on 34 galleries and 15 presentations of the Curio program, from 3 to 8 December, held for the first time at Pride Park, right next to the Miami Beach Convention Center which hosts the parallel exhibition Art Basel Miami with over 200 modern and contemporary art galleries (from 5 to 8 December). Calling the shots is Aric Chen, at his second stint as curatorial director after the debut at Design Miami/Basel in June; he moves forward with the thematic focus on materials and the future of the planet, with “Elements: Water” functioning as an inspiration for the gallerists on hand.

As in the case of Luis Pons Design Lab and the interactive Tangara Collection created in collaboration with Vermeil, whose colors have been selected in reference to the hues of the ocean; or Carpenters Workshop Gallery, with reflections on the troubling subject of rising sea levels, in the installation by Virgil Abloh Aqua Alta, referring to the dramatic phenomenon that has recently worsened in the city of Venice.

Along with the exhibits, Design Miami/ is enhanced by a vast range of collaborations, installations and satellite events all across Miami Beach and the whole city. A variegated mixture of design, arts, architecture, culture and fashion. We have selected some of the best offerings, to create an experiential itinerary in the boundless variety of creativity that converges on Design Miami/.
