New hospitality trends in New York

The November appointment at Jacob Javits Center in New York with BDNY 2019 is back, with the most famous exhibition on the design of hotels, restaurants, spas and lifestyle in general, where IFDM is the media partner

8000 designers, architects and buyers, and over 750 exhibitors with the sector’s most innovative products – lighting, furniture, accessories, wallpaper, fabrics, outdoor – in a two-day event with a contemporary focus.

One of the most eagerly awaited happenings takes place in Manhattan – from 10 to 11 November – in its 10th iteration, amidst visions of the future, innovative design and creative experimentation. An extraordinary show, Boutique Design New York (BDNY 2019) brings together the most outstanding names in hospitality from all over the world.

Presented by Boutique Design and produced by Emerald Expositions in collaboration with American Hotel & Lodging Assn. (AH&LA), Hotel Assn. of New York City (HANYC), New York State Hospitality and Tourism Assn. (NYSHTA), Asian American Hotel Owners Assn. (AAHOA), Boutique & Lifestyle Lodging Assn. Wrapped by spaces invented by leading design teams – from Hilton to Marriott – and created with products from the exhibitors of BDNY 2019, magnificent lounges, sophisticated cafes and relaxing spaces welcome visitors into sublime, immersive settings. Fig & Fable by HVS DESIGN, for example, is an original coffee bar experience full of lush vegetation, with the charm of an authentic garden. The inspiration comes from the iconic Eden of Adam and Eve, echoed by emerald green fabrics, floral carpets, warm tones of wood and brass finishes, furnished with items from Architectural Ceramics, BDL–Better Designed Lighting, Brintons, Fairmont Designs, Kevin Barry Fine Art, Swavelle-Mill Creek Contract Fabrics, Pioneer Pro Audio.

MEMENTO: experiences worth remembering, created by the design team of HILTON, is a celebration of the important centenary of one of the leading names in hospitality: a story that winds through travel memories to transform the installation into a live performance. Urban Lush by the EOA team is an invitation to take a break, where a stratified canyon of eroded walls becomes the perfect setting to rediscover relaxation, amidst new creations by BSF, DAC Art Consulting, Formica Corporation, P/KAUFMANN Contract, Ulster. Elements that evoke nature are seen in the Enchanted Forest by Wimberly Interiors in collaboration with Valley Forge, Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, Lodging Concepts, Fine Art Lamps, Milliken and Indoteak, where the main focus is environmental sustainability narrated through a painstaking selection of recycled finishes and materials.

All in the run-up to the announcement of the winners of the 39th Gold Key Awards – the oldest and most prestigious prize in the world of hospitality – divided into 23 categories, the Judge’s So Cool prize and the Designer of the Year award, on 11 November 2019 at the Gold Key Awards Gala, in collaboration with Boutique Design New York (BDNY) and HX: The Hotel Experience.
