Glass House is the prototype for a residential unit of 20 square meters with the bathroom and services at the center of its polygonal plan, leaving the entire perimeter free to wrap the unit with glass walls for an uninterrupted view of the desert. The project launched by Guardian Glass and designed by OFIS Architects explores the thermal and structural potential of glass, deployed here as a transparent but shaded element, a thin but thermally efficient enclosure, and a structural support to stand up to strong winds.
The building also incorporates a water filtering system, an energy generator and a set of photovoltaic panels, for significant reduction of consumption.
