Milan-Naples: the encounter

The ‘Madunina’ welcomes the famous Neapolitan restaurant Terrazza Calabritto. The style of the venue is a perfect mixture of the historical images of the two cities

Design is to Milan what taste is to Naples. When these two arts meet, a historic Neapolitan restaurant like Terrazza Calabritto can open in a strategic zone of Milan, on Via Monte Grappa.

The architectural project is by Francesca Faraone, who also did the restyling of the restaurant in Naples in 2013. In an area of 180 square meters, she has brought together iconic Neapolitan Baroque with fine craftsmanship, a strong point of Milan and Brianza. The furnishings have been designed by the architect and produced with the finest materials by the skilled hands of the best artisans, giving the restaurant a unique character.

Guests are welcomed into an attractive space that functions as the reception area (featuring the IC Light by Flos), in which they shift from a vibrant neighborhood outside to a relaxing environment, far from the fast pace of the city.
The Crudo Cocktail Bar stands out for its long counter, where the space is reflected in a mirror wall. Tall stools covered in green are the protagonists, while the Neapolitan Settecento is evoked in the use of marble, with floors in white Carrara, black Marquinia, yellow Siena, replicating typical designs that decorate the interiors of the magnificent churches of Naples.

References to outstanding designers like Gio Ponti and Piero Portaluppi mingle with a fresh, sophisticated atmosphere, which in turn draws inspiration from the facility in Naples with a view of Piazza Vittoria, also thanks to the yellow and green tones.

The last space couldn’t help but be a veranda: the structure in glass and iron is enhanced by a row of light bulbs that reinterprets the tradition of festive lighting in small towns, and by sophisticated drapes in white gauze that allow the space to be flooded with delicately diffused light.
The finishing touches are provided by outdoor wood flooring in iroko, and wrought iron tables.
