The Flexform lifestyle breaks free of the limits imposed by a home’s indoor space, now invading the plein air context as well. The same style, the same attention to detail, the same elegant and welcoming atmosphere: the fil rouge that characterises the brand’s collections has been transferred obsequiously to the new outdoor line, which made its exclusive debut on occasion of the Salone del Mobile.Milano, alongside the brand’s new products created for interiors.

Over thirty pieces of décor were presented: from chairs to large sofas, from dining tables to coffee tables, from rugs to accessories; a rich and thorough selection with which to furnish exterior spaces in a consistent style.

“The collection is a product of the design culture that has always characterised all of our company’s activities and to which the designers with whom we have a privileged relationship have contributed, from our collaboration with Antonio Citterio to the re-release of historic products designed by Mario Asnago and Claudio Vender, now reinterpreted for the outdoors,” the company tells us.
The materials definitely contribute to defining the personality of the new products – iroko wood, water-proof fabrics, weaves, feet made from die-cast metal alloys, to name a few, ensuring optimal performance in open air contexts and resistance to damage from atmospheric agents and UV rays.

The Vulcano sofa (designed by Antonio Citterio) stands out, featuring the weave that Flexform is particularly fond of, a distinguishing characteristic of this series of chairs by the same name. The base is made from multi-layer marine plywood while the structure of the armrests and backrests is made from grade 316 austenitic stainless steel. All of the cushion upholstery is covered in special breathable water-proof fabric.

The weave is also used in the Ortigia armchairs (the external version of the indoor series by the same name): the seat is upholstered while the backrest is enhanced by a sophisticated and fully handcrafted weave available in a polypropylene rope version or in a polyurethane rubber version; the structure is constructed entirely from solid iroko, resting on feet made from milled die-cast metal alloys.

Even bestseller Thomas (designed by Antonio Citterio) has its outdoor equivalent, as does the Alison armchair (designed by Carlo Colombo) and the Moka table and chair collection (designed by Mario Asnago and Claudio Vender), the original design of which dates back to the 1930s, but whose modern look is unquestionable. While its style is defined by rationalism, its materials make use of grade 316 austenitic tubular stainless steel.
