For the 58th edition of the Salone del Mobile.Milano, Desalto presents a rich variety of new products. This, approximately one year since Gordon Guillaumier took over the company’s artistic direction. The designer, originally from Malta, has contributed to developing the dynamism and energy of Desalto, a company that has always focused on functionality paired with a sense of aesthetics.
Over the past year Guillaumier has followed a path that led to the creation of a vast range of products designed in collaboration with many successful architects and designers. Among the new products, Aria by Atelier Oï stands out: an armchair characterised by tricot which, in a single piece, wraps like a tensile structure around the tubular steel framework, creating a comfortable and cosy chaise longue. The name and the quilting give a sense of lightness to the chair.
For Desalto, Nendo created Step, a collection of bookcases with simple lines based on shelves that are secured without screws and are therefore easily removed. Each can also serve as a bookend for books placed on the adjacent shelf.
Meanwhile, with Mun, Mario Ferrarini, has created a dining chair in which the main feature is its continuous and circular design.
Guglielmo Poletti’s rigorous design style has been applied to a family of coffee tables and makes use of curved steel sheet metal, giving life to the Void collection.
The primary characteristic of Strong by Eugeni Quitllet is the curved steel tube that becomes the core of the structure: dining table, chair, coffee table, and stool, these last two also conceived for outdoor use.
