The voice of Mother Earth

These places continue to be where the creative lymph of a company had its origin, in this case, the Natuzzi Italia, one of the main global players in the furniture sector. That generous region of Puglia that led the company to celebrate 60 years of activity, a source of inspiration for the recent collections at the Salone del Mobile, ready to breathe life into a new vision of living

An inexhaustible source that continues to gush forth, quenching imagination and genius. The roots in Puglia, the genius loci, have always been a strong point of what is now an established company in the world. An empire, that of the Natuzzi, which has never cut the umbilical cord with its own land, especially now, having arrived at an important birthday.

“Natuzzi celebrates 60 years of design at the Salone del Mobile – says Pasquale Junior Natuzzi, Creative Director & Stylist -, inspired by Mother Earth, the spirit and uniqueness of Puglia, where in 1959 my father embarked on a long, impassioned journey in the world of furniture, armed with great foresight. Today, just like yesterday, the places where it all began give life to a new vision of living that always ‘starts from the earth to return to the earth’. The collection that we are presenting at Milan’s Design Week is the most significant expression of a long journey of research and in-depth research into identity to achieve beauty, in its most authentic and profound meaning. We want to give back to nature a bit of the great beauty that nature has given to us. And we do it by inaugurating a new era for sustainable design.”

The brand’s strong experiential connotation has always been a vocation cultivated by Pasquale Junior, which resulted in a process of renewal of the communication strategy in 2015 and in the creation of a new stylistic code that placed the Apulian-Mediterranean lifestyle at its centre. Dandy, the new collection created by Marcel Wanders for Natuzzi Italia, already the mind behind the two series inspired by Apulian land launched last year, explores the distinctive features of this region, imagining a new character that is as free, open and passionate as the places he comes from, a cosmopolitan dandy who tells a story of love and gratitude for his land through the objects he surrounds himself with when his globetrotting spirit brings him home. “We are proud to once again reveal the human side of design – continues Pasquale Junior Natuzzi -. The partnership with Marcel Wanders represents our desire to go beyond the design, it is a vision that unites what we have been, what we are and what we will be, so that it can narrate the style and essence of the places we inhabit.” Wanders’ proposal is based on the balance between everyday gestures and metropolitan atmospheres, where manual and industrial techniques merge through details and meticulous workmanship to give the living environment the taste of the origins as well as the seduction of the contemporary. “We have considered the richness of the elements and design models present in Italian culture – Wanders says – This collection illustrates the history of local customs and lifestyles. We proudly collaborate with Natuzzi in what is a noble investment for their local economy and culture.”

“Thanks to a combination of open and closed bases, the new sofa system exalts all the functions of the living area and has characteristics of high ergonomic performance. The different combinations generate an irregular layout at the base”, Gabriele Chiave, creative director says, with satisfaction. Then there is the Dove chaise-longue, which refers to the shape of a dove with a backrest that can be adapted to two sitting positions, the Dami lamp inspired by the shape of the glass demijohns traditionally used for wine fermentation. The Dandy collection also includes a bar area, inspired by New York’s unique appeal, with mobile desk in chromium-plated finish and two leather stools. And much more. A complete vision, Dandy, which unites local wisdom and global image, to rediscover the genuine emotion of one’s origins in a variety of ways.
