Superstudio, between innovation and tradition

The 19th edition of one of the longest-running of the Fuorisalone events takes place under the usual driving force of Gisela Borioli and of the art director Giulio Cappellini and it will explore innovation and tradition

Milan and design represent an increasingly solid bond which owes its success to the ability it has to renew itself, directing its gaze toward the future without forgetting the past. Superstudio has been part of Milano Design Week since 2000 and embodies the spirit of the event to the fullest, resulting in it being one of the most popular destinations.

Innovation&Tradition is the theme of Superdesign Show, a project designed by Gisella Borioli in collaboration with the art director Giulio Cappellini. The objectives of the combination of tradition and innovation, nature and technology, are to simplify, beautify and make our homes and cities more smart and sustainable. The contrast is not only conceptual, but it will be made visible to visitors: in the common parts of the Superdesign Show and at Superstudio Piu, in the Central Hall, white and black will reign supreme.

Furniture is present, but also the automotive sector, immaterial art exhibitions, 3D software, fabrics, refined hotel contracts, outdoor and many other novelties will animate the show. Among them, Giulio Cappellini will launch the special project Superhotel, an international hotel, which will gather together leading names in design such as Jasper Morrison, Shiro Kuramata, Tom Dixon, Patrick Norguet, Carlo Colombo and Piero Lissoni, but with deep Italian roots that mix industrial products and high-level crafts created ad hoc.

The network dedicated to materials using new technologies, design and sustainability, Material ConneXion Italy, will once again be present at Superdesign Show, with three separate projects: Smart City, Materials Village and the special project “The Beautiful Side of Design.”Not only that, Korea occupies a leading role with Korea Craft & Design Foundation (KCDF) and the “Monochrome Monologue” project that is inspired by the concept of sentimentality.
