MDF Italia is celebrating the first 10 years of Tense and Flow. Imm Cologne was the occasion to pay homage to the two iconic products by presenting their reinterpretations Tense Diamond, Tense Fine Wood, Flow 10th and Flow Tessile.
Red is the distinctive sign of Tense Diamond. The table was created by renewing the antique technique of Chinese lacquer: a process that involves the manual application of the colour and the successive application of no less than four layers of transparent resin, carefully polished.
The Tense Fine Wood version adopts the methods used by the finest Italian cabinetmakers in the creation of high quality furniture. The wood, from a single tree for each table, presents a particular chromatic characteristic that is defined as “Walnut colour”.
As regards the Flow collection, MDF Italia has created Flow 10th, (in the historic version with a wooden leg unit), available with a white opaque back body and a transparent sanded leg or with a glossy black back body and a black painted leg. The original 10th base is made of transparent methacrylate.
In Cologne, instead, the iconic Flow chair and Flow Slim collection is presented in the Tessile version, totally upholstered and with a wide range of bases and finishes to choose from.
Alessandro Scandurra of SSA Scandurra Studio Architettura was chosen for the creation of the stand. He crafted a space without limits and barriers, inspired by a backstage or experimental theatre, on whose “stage” stand out the two furnishings that bear the hallmark style of MDF Italia: pure and essential lines, but with a strong personality.
The idea was to allow the public to enter within the stand as if they were actually coming on stage, thus also becoming protagonists.
The celebration doesn’t end here. Indeed, in Cologne was also launched Tense & Flow. Ten Years: a fascinating 70-page celebrative volume dedicated to Tense and Flow. The catalogue moves along two lines, telling as many stories, starting with the cover “Story about a chair” and “Story about a table” and the same graphic subdivision also involves the individual pages. Each one presents in the upper section evocative and expressive images concerning the product and the company, while in the lower section it proposes a technical story, with colours and finishes.
