Now a yearly appointment: in January Illulian participates in Maison&Objet. The company, founded in 1959, is one of the most well-known companies in the field of carpets, both antique and modern, and will animate the French trade show with a selection of new products and bestsellers.
In particular, the company will be featuring Sottosopra 2, the product of its collaboration with designer Fabio Novembre. Sottosopra 2 is a limited edition whose extraordinary visual and emotional power is both captivating and impressive. Observers are almost hypnotized by the playful perspective and catapulted into an architecture that seems “real”.
A true work of art that fully marries the brand’s philosophy, according to which an object must satisfy certain requisites: it must be exclusive, of artisan craftsmanship, authentic, and, obviously, it must have tremendous aesthetic quality.
But that’s not all. Also featured will be Kintsugi, its name taken from the ancient Japanese art of repairing objects with the use of gold or other precious metals; as well as Colette, a modern reinterpretation of antique decorations.
Every Illulian rug is knotted and carded by hand and made with high quality materials like wool and silk. The company uses two kinds of processes to create its products: Platinum 120 (the most exclusive line, characterised by an extremely complex artisan process with 180,000 knots/sqm) and Gold 100 (with a density of 150,000 knots/sqm).
