Brussels Furniture Fair: design for all tastes

From 4 to 7 November, Brussels Furniture Fair will cater to all comers with diverse areas featuring different product categories

Brussels Furniture Fair is just around the corner. From Sunday 4 November to Wednesday 7 November, the historic Brussels Furniture Fair (whose first edition took place back in 1937) will look to delight all comers to the Brussels Expo centre with a number of diverse sections. As every year, the organisers will be looking to put on an event of global relevance, with over 60% of the exhibitors hailing from outside Belgium.

The 2018 theme, chosen by art director Siegrid Demyttenaere, is “Get in touch”. In an increasingly digitalised, online world, even the world of furniture is being forced to pitch in and embrace technology – and it’s this theme that companies are being asked to showcase their latest new developments.

The event is divided into six areas. The City area is situated in Pavilions 3, 4 and 5, where brands whose furniture is all about contemporary styles will take centre stage. Square, meanwhile, showcases furniture collections featuring more elegant, sophisticated lines. And for those that are interested in bedrooms, Pavilion 6’s Brussels by Night will offer a wide range of beds, fabrics and mattresses.

The Hospitality World section is dedicated to the contract sector, with exhibitors set to present new concepts and ideas for hotel and B&B rooms, restaurants and apartments. Over at the Fusion area, visitors will be met with warm materials, vintage industrial styles, unique armchairs and side tables, solid-wood furniture, couches and much more besides. Last but certainly not least, Pavilion 9 is home to Mozaïek, which features collections at accessible prices.

One of the highlights of the four-day event is the Balthazar Award. Scheduled for Tuesday 6 November, the award will see brands that have stood out from the crowd on account of their originality and innovation rewarded with traditional 12 litre bottles of champagne.

Special mention must be reserved for the event’s website. Not only does it allow you to consult a list of the exhibitors online, but you can even make a note of the stands you want to visit by creating a list and special personalised map.
