Jumbo Group’s expressive versatility

Style, projects and trade. Livio Ballabio and Moreno Brambilla discuss the evolution of society in relation to changes in the Russian market

The Jumbo Group has a well-established presence in Moscow, including at the sister event of Salone del Mobile.Milano. The 2018 edition will feature four of the company’s brands:  Jumbo Collection, Roberto Cavalli Home Interiors, Gianfranco Ferré Home and Etro Home Interiors.

The company’s participation demonstrates that Russia is still an important market for the Group, even if the country’s recent economic performance (“the famed sanctions and embargoes are the primary factor”) has required a different approach to the market: “Our direct relationships with single-brand and multi-brand stores, which in the past enabled us to be present in numerous cities, have been greatly reduced, not only in Moscow, but also in other regions of Russia,” commented Chairman & CEO Moreno Brambilla.

While trade has created difficulties, it has also fostered and strengthened relationships with architecture and interior design firms: “They have made the very intelligent decision of allowing us to dialogue directly with their customers, ensuring that we create total trust between our IDS (Interior Design Service) and the end user, giving us the possibility to provide a comprehensive service,” the CEO adds. “This new arrangement has given us more time to complete various projects, while also allowing us to receive more substantial orders, which sometimes include turnkey supplies for villas and apartments. With this in mind, we have continued to consolidate our collaborations with historic partners, which over the years have always provided us with exhibition spaces dedicated to our brands.”

width=The Group’s creative spirit has simultaneously evolved towards more contemporary, clean designs in formal terms, as Livio Ballabio, Partner & Creative Director of Jumbo Group, explains: “The change applies to all the brands, including both the fashion brands and Jumbo Collection, our most classic brand. The exception is JCP, our most experimental brand, which enables us to explore the design world with an alternative approach that differs from what the term design normally refers to today”.
