IFDM comes to Beijing

On the 23rd September, on occasion of the contemporary début of Design China Beijing and the Contract&Hospitality Regional Book China, Aesthetics will be held for the first time, the IFDM DesignTalk-guest of honour: Norzihan Aziz, Head of ColorWorks® Design Centre, Singapore

Just a few hours to go before two major premières. In chronological order, on Friday 20th September, the doors of the National Agricultural Exhibition Centre will open onto the first edition of Design China Beijing, the trade fair organised by Media10, inspired by its Shanghai-based equivalent which has now reached its fifth edition. The event will host the début of the new and exclusive edition of Contract&Hospitality Regional Book China by IFDM, media partner of Design China Beijing, presented in July in the refined setting of Hilton Lake Como.

The most eagerly awaited event for our magazine is undoubtedly Aesthetics, the DesignTalk held by the founder and publisher Paolo Bleve, the editor-in-chief of the Regional Book China Johannes Neubacher, scheduled for Sunday 23rd September. Norzihan Aziz, Head of the ColorWorks Design Centre, Singapore, will be the guest of honour, set to unveil the Stories which will define the 2019 colour landscape.

The event is an opportunity for the media, design influencers, buyers and leaders of the industry to discuss the theme: “Inspiration Nature, Craft and Technology”, on a series of occasions which will generate inspiration and new ideas. Aesthetics will also encourage focus on a historic and central theme of Books: previews of colour trends.
The collaboration of IFDM with ColorWorks®, business unit of Clariant, does not end with Design China Beijing, it generates exclusive content for each quarterly issue of the Contract&Hospitality Book, with the Color Stories column.

How are Colour Stories born? How are relative trend-setting colours defined?
Professionals at ColorWorks® identify colour trends by keeping a finger on the pulse of social changes at a global level, grouping them into four “stories”, or macro-themes, translated into a palette of 5 colours, 20 in total, which define ColorForward® for the following year. In this case it’s 2019: Do not Disturb and CTRL+F speak of how indispensable technology is in our personal and professional lives, and above all of the control which it exercises over users. Made in Human explains just how useful complementarity between humans and technology really is. Lastly, Umswenko is dedicated to Africa and its new generations who are creating trends in different fields such as music and cinema.
