Rosina, a cocktail lounge located within The Palazzo that opened December 2017, offers a fully expressed aesthetic and an environment that’s a refuge and moody escape. Smoked glass partitions and curtains separate the bar and its retro speakeasy vibe from the casino floor of the Italian-themed property. (The Palazzo is located next to the Venetian hotel and casino, and is also owned and operated by the Las Vegas Sands group.)
The scheme by Chicago-based Simeone Deary Design Group, developed under a consulting agreement with Gensler, discretely separates the 65-seat, Art Deco-Inspired drinking and meeting spot from the casino floor action, while conveniently allowing customers to jump back into the mix. Rosina’s bar staff that was trained by leading U.S.-based mixologists Sam Ross and David Rabin sets the bar high for a carefully curated drinking experience. Classic cocktail recipes are exactingly followed, but bartenders also have the skill and understanding to experiment (a French 75 tastes absolutely delicious with a touch of absinthe, should you ever wonder).
Details that evoke the Roaring 20s mixed with Vegas in the current era include black stone with complex brass inlay patterning on the floor and bar surfaces, a coved ceiling, and custom lighting by Preciosa. A series of deep banquettes that are illuminated by lush chandeliers above can be enclosed with sumptuous drapery, making an ideal setting for small private gatherings.
Luminous brass and other deluxe surfaces feel as if Jay Gatsby might walk through the door and order a perfectly composed gin cocktail at any moment. It’s just enough to make sure to keep a Vegas visitor sane, and drinking very well.
