Colorful geometric patterns for the home by Hermès

Architecture in the architecture. The installation created by the Hermès company for the Milan Design Week was undoubtedly a suggestive display of art and creativity, certainly favored by the strongly architectural approach implemented.

According to a project conceived by Charlotte Macaux Perelman, artistic co-director of Hermès Maison together with Alexis Fabry, within the macro-frame of La Permanente in via Turati, seven homes have created an exhibition and emotional itinerary among the 2018-2019 collections for the Hermès house. Voluminous monochromatic boxes externally covered with Moroccan zellige (small square tiles made of glazed terracotta) have become the ideal container for objects, furnishing fabrics, wallpapers, furnishings, as well as the new table service A Walk in the City, designed by Irish designer Nigel Peake.

The scenography signed by Hervé Sauvage plays on the graphic sign of the squares, with rolls of paper drawn by hand to act as background to the objects.

To accentuate the installation’s architectural effect, a live performance of dancers who, on the occasion of the inaugural evening, created athletic interactions with the shapes and geometries of the space.
