Coal Drops Yard is the new hub for the london shopping

The countdown has begun for the inauguration of Coal Drops Yard in Autumn 2018, the new and vibrant shopping area in the heart of King's Cross, next to Granary Square and a few steps away from St Pancras International station. An important area which is ready to host almost 10 thousand square metres of shops and restaurants, as a fundamental part of a broader regeneration initiative for King's Cross.
An emerging hub where fashion, crafts and culture will mingle in a fusion of tradition and contemporaneity. Here visitors will find and discover all the latest from top retailers and independent ateliers, laboratory-workshops run by young emerging talents and an array of new exhibition concepts. A must for anyone in London on the look out for an original idea, a tailor-made suit, unique accessories and, why not, a place to meet for cocktails or dinner at one of the countless trendy lounge bars and bistros.

The Coal Drops Yard project is by the London-based Heatherwick Studio which likes to define itself as "a team of 180 problem solvers". Its architects have masterfully blended modern and state-of-the-art design elements with the pre-existing setting, dating back to 1850, by suggestively and harmoniously rethinking large brick viaducts, cobbled streets and typical Victorian constructions.
The first brands to confirm their presence include Lost Property of London, a boutique founded by Katy Bell and John Maskell, alumni of the Central Saint Martins College of Arts&Design. Lost Property of London will also be present with its very own retail space, where it will present its flagship products, including hand made leather bags and rucksacks. Other brands include: Cubbits, specialised in vintage-look prescription eyewear and sunglasses, and Tom Dixon, confirming that it aims to move its headquarters from Portobello Dock to King’s Cross. Mr. Dixon explains how "for us it's fundamental not just to have an office or a shop, but also to find a new home. London is not just another city, it is where everything began. We'll be in an incredible position and we'll create a platform to convey our latest interior design ideas, we'll speak about product innovation and food experiments, with a vision focused on functionality and the future".
