Plastic Fantastic: 40 artists for Kartell

From Anna Castelli Ferrieri, who conferred a new sense of elegance and functionality upon industrial plastic, to Philippe StarckPatricia Urquiola Tokujin Yoshioka, Piero Lissoni  Ferruccio Laviani, Achille Castiglioni, Alberto Meda, Antonio Citterio, Ettore Sotsass, Gae Aulenti, Marcel Wanders, Vico Magistretti and many more big names from the world of international design. Forty of some of the world’s most highly acclaimed artists, whose works are on display at the D Museum, Seoul, recount the magical journey of what has been described as the 20th century’s miraculous material: plastic.

Plastic Fantastic is an exhibition organised in partnership with Kartell, open until March 4th 2018, where designers revel in providing a complete overview of their own character and love of challenges in producing over 2700 works, ranging from furnishing, lighting, graphics and photography. Together they recount the significant natural evolution resulting from the interaction between this flexible, continuously evolving material, with creative and artistic expression.

One of the exhibition’s key elements is an exploration of the close collaboration between all forty artists and Kartell, a leading brand of Italian design. A selection of works from the company’s immense archives give visitors a taste of quintessential Italian style, in a maelstrom of graphics, illustrations and photographs which capture plastic furniture pieces in an array of imaginative artistic perspectives.
