Now in its eighth edition, Operæ, Indipendent Design Fair, once again offers an important overview of the international contemporary design scene, featuring both independent and collection design, thanks to two specific sections dedicated to designers and design galleries. The fair features the presence of designers of collections with unique pieces and limited series and of the subjects that they are promoting. It aims to foster business relationships and new opportunities between the exhibitors, while promoting the collector’s research and public interest.
Scheduled between 3 and 5 November 2017, with a preview on 2 November, “This new edition of Operæ aims to present a more open reading of design,” declared Alice Stori Liechtenstein, the curator of the event, who chose the title Why Design for this edition: design that breaks down barriers and blurs boundaries; design that fearlessly lays claim to its role as a bridge between science and the arts. We want to be a platform for designers that express themselves with courage, for objects that have the potential to become ambassadors of our age, for projects that have the power to redefine contemporary aesthetics.”
Operæ will be held at Lingotto Fiere in Turin, already home to Artissima, International Contemporary Art, and to Club to Club, International Festival of Avant-garde and Pop, forming a synergistic hub for contemporary experimentation. This year, independent and research fashion has its own space at the fair thanks to Dreamers, a guest project by Operæ that consists of an exhibition featuring visions and projects. To apply for Operæ, you must fill in the application form no later than 22 September 2017. The form is available on the www.operae.biz site, where you can also find all the details on terms and conditions of participation.
