Vitality Room: where wellness sets the rules

Given the continuous growth of ‘wellness travel’ in recent years, Swissôtel made a forward-thinking and successful decision in 2012 to present guests at the hotel and resort with a Vitality Programme, a customized services package dedicated to the mental and physical wellbeing of people who travel, for pleasure or for work.

The latest development and result of this “Live it well” approach to hospitality is called Vitality Room, a room concept for guests designed together with Wallpaper* and created as a prototype in the Swissôtel in Zurich, which places the wellbeing of body, mind and soul at the centre of the design and revises the ‘standards’ of hotel rooms by creating a first-rate private space.
This atmosphere of wellbeing encompasses the air that you breathe – thanks to an aroma diffuser and an integrated, silent IQAir CleanZone purifier –, the light – an adjustable light that provides the guest with varying intensities throughout the different phases of the day –, and the water, which can be used with Dornbracht technologies that vary its intensity and mode.

The mini-suites include a ‘day’ area, with an entrance and living room, separated from the sleeping area, which consists of a bedroom and bathroom. The furniture by Vitra is comfortable and chosen specifically to best serve the 54 sq m Vitality Room, while the technology and equipment is discreet or concealed.
Such as the IndelB wall mini-bar and the Wellbeing Wall, specially designed by NOHrD, a compact and retractable wall for fitness, fitted with equipment and multilingual cyber trainers.
The layout of the room has been reconfigured to optimize the views outside and to improve the functionality with spaces for training and relaxation, while the colors used are intentionally monochromatic and neutral, with Grand Douglas Classic wood used for the claddings, which is visually calming and pleasing to the touch. A rational and minimalist space that is simultaneously comfortable, contemporary and technological.

Many partners were involved in the creation of this concept room. In addition to the brands already mentioned – Dornbracht, IQAir, NOHrD and Vitra – Laufen was responsible for the bathroom design, Lasvit, Marset, FontanaArte and Philips for the lighting fixtures, Interel for the control panels, Mutina and Dinesen for the coatings, Krebs and Stepevi for the fabrics, along with Agath, Decor Walther, Everie, Solis, LG, Absolute Lifestyle and Beaumont & Brown.
