During the busy program of events at the London Design Festival, Lema and its partner Alpi – united by the signature of Piero Lissoni – presented the new finishes in the T030 collection at their flagship store in the Danish House (in the heart of Chelsea).
Alpi has added the Xilo 2.0 wood finishes to its already extensive xylotecque, used to embellish the Brianzola-based company’s modular system. Architect Piero Lissoni, who has been Art Director of Lema for many years, designed the themes of the new collection of finishes for Alpi. The collection testifies to an increasingly evident bespoke vocation and the ability to customize the ranges of the two companies.
SHAPE, form, wood finishes: a total design experience was the name of the event. An outstanding spokesman was called upon to emphasize the marriage between design and “bespoke”: Sergio Buttiglieri, interior design director of Sanlorenzo Yacht, the second largest global player in the field of yachts over 24 meters in length.
Sanlorenzo is an impressive case study: owner Massimo Perotti courageously changed direction by choosing Buttiglieri (who had long, valuable experience working for Driade in its heyday), with whom he radically changed the range of interiors for yachts. It is an example of how it is still possible to “create” with what is on offer from the furniture market, marking out a new path for design and customization. This is exactly what Lema and Alpi, who already work with Sanlorenzo, offer today.
Projects signed by the most famous architects and designers have followed Sanlorenzo Yacht’s new direction: from Dordoni to Starck to Antonio Citterio, whose interior design project for an Italian shipyard will become a reality in November. Buttiglieri’s fascinating talk perfectly conveyed the sense of high-quality “bespoke”.
Manufacturing culture, research and courage in experimenting with new directions: these characteristics have made Alpi a player of international renown.
The collaboration between Alpi and Lema, which brings together many hands and minds, is both a milestone and a starting point for increasingly ambitious projects, which, as Buttiglieri has demonstrated, are possible.
