Oluce celebrates 40 years of Sonora

The entrance in the big four-oh doesn’t scare Sonora, the iconic Oluce chanderlier designed by Vico Magistretti exactly 40 years ago. The brand just starts the celebrations in order to honor the product and they culminate in an event on the 6th of October, date of Magistretti’s birth. In occasion of the initiative, it will be presented thw video #40annidisonora – realized in partnership with the Magistretti Foundation. During the video Margherita Pellino, niece of the architect-designer and custodian at the Foundation’s Archive, will talk about the numerous inspirations and curiosities that shape Sonora.

The work is originated by a study about the pure, geometrical shape of the semi-sphere that create an exclusive lamp, volume into another volume (the room). At the beginning, Sonora was produced in 401, 409 and 408 models; in 1990 the Murano glass was used for the second variation, and last one was the model in covering methacrylate.
