Thonet’s essence in the Viennese pop-up

A double aim encouraged Thonet to launch in Vienna its first pop-up cafè: honorate the brand traditional production in a contemporary way and celebrate the culture of Viennese coffee. The collections are not only protagonists of the pop-up, but they are also illustrated on the showroom’s showcase that sided the cafè. 250 square meters has been turned in an exhibition space, part of the iconic Posta, historical and impressive building – with a surface of 35.000 sqm – that the company makes it lively and comfortable.

Starting from the inauguration – on June, 29 – for a year, Thonet will welcome the guests with coffee specialties waited by Jonas Reindl Coffee, that can be tasted outside on 214 – chair model realized by Michael Thonet in 1859 – or inside, in front of a wood table 1404 by Stefano Diez. The visitors will socialize around many 1123, small tables signed by James Irvine, before they will proceede to the next expositive location.

From the new 1060  and 1025 tables – the first one designed by Jorre van Ast in curved wood, the second by James Van Vossel – to the lounge series S 830 and 860, S 650 and 2000; from the armchair 808 to the classic S 35 (realized by Marcel Breuer), through the rocking chair S 826; those are the selected works into the store, close to the illumination system Lum and Kula.

In occasion of the opening, brands as USM, Cooper Colours, Carpet Sign and also Porzellanmanufaktur Augarten and Vorkerk Flooring collaborated with Thonet. Moreover, the space will be available for thematic exhibitions, conferences and festivals until 2017, when Posta will became an elegant residence.
