The Bulgari Hotel, a benchmark for luxury hospitality in Milan, is situated between the Brera District and the Fashion District. This exclusive location has been selected to present another outstanding structure: the Brickell Flatiron in Miami. With a planned height of 224 metres, the residential building will be the tallest skyscraper in the cosmopolitan financial district. The project, which is still under construction, will be completed in 2018 and will contain a total of 549 units, spread over 64 floors.
The building is completely pervaded by an unmistakable Made in Italy veneer: as well as the promoter Ugo Colombo, an Italian entrepreneur who founded the real estate development company CMC Group, the project has involved Massimo Iosa Ghini alongisde the architect Luis Revuelta. «Ugo is an Italian entrepreneur who is firmly established in the US», Ghini remarked at the meeting at the Bulgari, «But everything that is designed must have an Italian touch, a typically local style and quality».
Located in the heart of the city, the iconic building opts for a stylish interior in which meticulous attention is paid to every detail, in keeping with typically Italian style. Snaidero designed fitted kitchens with steel floors and fully-equipped stone counter tops, directly imported from Italy. Just like the double chrome washbasins designed by Zucchetti, a deep expression of luxury and functionality. But it is the light that makes the atmosphere unique: large windows allow rays of sunlight to penetrate the building. Its brightness is increased through recessed lighting systems, which create a striking contrast between dim and bright lights, distinguishing the internal and external spaces.
The project’s crowning achievement is the Sky Spa, which seems to freely float in the sky. The relax area – located on the building’s top floor – is surrounded by luminous windows that offer a unique view of the city. The top of the Flatiron boasts a panoramic outdoor pool, fitness area featuring the most up-to-date equipment, wellness center, private Turkish bath and sauna, all distinguished by refined material contrasts. Onyx, ivory and marble are combined with warm metals such as brass, bronze and copper, producing an original, eclectic result.
Crushed ceramics distinguish the portraits by the artist Julian Schnabel, who will embellish the tower’s lobby with his masterpieces. Characterized by bright colors and bold brushstrokes, the paintings appear three-dimensional and give the project a breath of contemporary design.
