Traveling with Gandia Blasco

From Milan to Miami via Las Vegas. Gandia Blasco knows no boundaries. The Spanish outdoor furniture brand has left the Italian capital of design – after an obligatory stop-over at Milan Design Week – to travel to the glittering city on the West Coast, before landing in sunny Miami Beach at Maison&Objet Americas. This international design journey introduces the new collection, which plays with dynamic geometries and a variety of compositions, combined with the minimal elegance that lies at the heart of the brand.

Starring at the HD Expo in Las Vegas, Gandia Blasco tells its story – to coincide with the 75th anniversary of its foundation – through new outdoor furnishing solutions inspired by the heat and typical style of the Mediterranean.

This design philosophy is richly illustrated in its new 2016 catalog, An Odyssey – Back to the islands – Chapter II: a new chapter that bears witness (through images, text adapted by the journalist Matilde Oriola, and obviously, products) to the onward journey towards the brand’s origins, through the pure simplicity of design and passion for outdoor creativity, for which the blue Mediterranean is the port of arrival and departure.

There are many new additions to the catalog, such as DNA, designed by José A. Gandía-Blasco: a complete collection – made from aluminum and completed by chairs with comfortable padding –  that evokes the subtle modulations of light and shade produced by Mediterranean shutters. This linearity also distinguishes the Blau tree: it is more than a lamp, transcending its geometric shape with branched aluminum profiles that project lines of light, creating a suffused atmosphere, which illuminates and defines it. Dickson, Gandia Blasco’s first collection of outdoor rugs, stands out among the complements. The vinyl fabric combines the material’s durability and resistance properties with the texture of traditional rug fabrics and offers the possibility of customizing the color and size. The accessories continue in this experimental vein. The brand redesigns an icon of Spanish design: the La Siesta botijo uses materials and elements that characterize Mediterranean lifestyle and cuisine, through an object typical of Spanish culture, which serves as a water container and as an alternative way to drink it.

Inspired by nautical aesthetics with stylistic allusions to the ’60s and ’70s, the Stack System Chair is a system of six stackable chairs that offers great variety and versatility.

The collections are not limited to furniture, but offer a true lifestyle, a new way of reinterpreting and experiencing outdoor environments.
