Architecture in an exhibit: Space&Interiors

A large event aimed specifically for designers takes place during the Design Week at newly-opened The Mall Porta Nuova. Space&Interiors will set up in the new areas of the beautiful location within the district of Porta Nuova that belongs to the Fuori Salone circuit of the Brera Design District: event in the city closely tied to the Salone del Mobile.  Building on the experience from MADE Expo and developed by Migliore+Servetto Architects, Space&Interiors in Milan intends on showing off the best architecture finishing, as well as the new trends linked to this sector at the New Components Code exhibition.
«The way in which all the components of the architectural space relate to each other not only determine the overall quality of the project – explains architect Ico Migliore – it also contributes to creating an ideal abacus for modern construction, which the visitors will be able to discover well in advance». Space&Interiors puts on show the most innovative and cutting-edge solutions proposed by a variety of different kinds of products made from a selection of different companies. These companies specialise in creating components for interiors such as surfaces, floorings, upholstering, colour and decoration, doors, handles, fitted walls and stairs, plus facade coatings and glass for architectural purposes, windows and facades.
There's an outdoor section with arbours, gazebos, pavilions and outside lighting. There's even space for latest releases in the fields of home automation and home entertainment. In the occasion of the exhibition, on 16 February 2016, the Space&Interiors Factory competition was launched. Developed in collaboration with the Migliore+Servetto Studio, the competition is aimed at students of architecture and design at Italian universities and who are between 18 and 30 years old. The young up-and-comers have been asked to sum up their interpretation on a specific topic, The Codes of Contemporary Living, in a brief video and manifesto. They will have to expand on the relationship between finishing and the elements that compose the living environment, trying to find a specific identity. The winner will be announced during Space&Interiors and will be chosen by a select jury, with the best projects being put on show.
