Yesterday the 80!Molteni has closed. The exhibition at the Galleria d’Arte Moderna in Milan has enjoyed a resounding success. Open for almost 80 days, from 14 April to 30 June 2015, in the magnificent rooms of the museum’s Permanent Collection, restored by Ignazio Gardella. Curated by Jasper Morrison, the exhibition has been seen by more than 13,000 visitors, 5,000 during the Salone del Mobile week alone.
Visitors have particularly appreciated the dialogue between the 45 design items displayed, significant products for the history of Molteni and its associated companies – from the Gio Ponti re-makes to the Unifor Less table, from the first chest of drawers designed by Werner Blaser for Molteni&C to the Dada operating column.
80!Molteni is not over yet, in fact, as from autumn 2015, the 80!Molteni exhibition will have a new home, in the Molteni&C headquarters in Giussano, and will become a permanent business enterprise museum. A project designed once again by Jasper Morrison, that will include iconic items from the last 80 years’ production as well as new iconographic materials. The catalogue that accompanies the exhibition will also be enriched with new contributions from Molteni’s historic archive, which will continue its research and digitalization work, to create a full and organic monograph on the history of the companies making up the Group. The 80.molteni.it website illustrates the exhibition as well as presenting documents, videos and interviews, photographs and drawings about Molteni’s products and history. It is also enriched with contributions sent in by visitors via the Instagram and Twitter social networks with the hashtag #80MOLTENI.
