Imagination of flight

An important work, unconventional and magnificent at the same time. Massimiliano and Doriana Fuksas have signed the Terminal 3 project of the Shenzhen Bao’an airport: 1.5 kilometres long, it covers a surface area of 500,000 square metres, with the capacity to hold 45 million passengers. One of the largest terminals in the world, built in just 3 years.

The building – with the look of a manta – seems to be shaped by the wind, in harmony with the interior design – by Fuksas Design –  which recalls the concept of fluidity. The symbolic element of the project is the honeycomb motif with its double skin, outer and inner, enwrapping the structure.  The result is an airport to be experienced, a celebration of the emotion and imagination of flight.
